Iotroam

To use your embedded device on the HvA campus there is a separate network available. To use this network you first need to register your device. This network is only intended for embedded devices and laptops that communicate with those embedded devices.

Follow these steps to get your SSID and password:

  • In your GitLab project, in the arduino folder, you’ll find a sketch called esp32-mac-address.
  • Upload the sketch to your embedded device and open the Serial Monitor.
    • Use a baud rate of 9600 bps.
  • The MAC address of your embedded device will appear in the Serial Monitor; copy it.
  • Register a new device in DLO with this MAC address using the iotroam tool.

After registration you will receive a password for this device. You can use this to connect to the iotroam network.

  • SSID: iotroam (case‑sensitive!)
  • Password: [Available in DLO via the iotroam tool]

If you want to exchange data between your laptop and your embedded device, you can register both devices with the iotroam tool. Make sure you select the correct device type during registration.

The MAC address of your embedded device is linked to the SSID and password, so sharing the password with others is pointless.
