Learning Journal Template

This is the template for the learning journal. You can use this template to write your learning journal entries. Copy this template in Portflow in the evidence-type “Free Text”.

Learning Question

Write a single, focused question that is important to you and relevant to the topic. The entry should work toward answering this question.

Example: How can low-cost air quality sensors be calibrated to produce reliable city-wide PM2.5 maps?

S β€” Situation

Describe the initial context. What sparked this learning? What background is needed for a reader to understand your journey?

T β€” Task

Define the concrete objective(s) derived from your Learning Question. Make them specific and measurable where possible.

A β€” Action

Document the steps you take. Be detailed: tools, datasets, parameters, prompts, code snippets, design sketches, and decisions. Include dead-endsβ€”it shows learning.

R β€” Result

Present the outcomes clearly and objectively. Include visuals or tables if helpful.

R β€” Reflection

Analyze the meaning of the results. Connect back to your Learning Question and to theory/practice.

T β€” Transfer

State how you will transfer this learning to new contexts. What’s next?
