Merge Requests
In Gitlab we use Merge Requests to work on User Stories (and it's Tasks) and Review the work. You don't create branches yourself, Gitlab does this for you. Follow these steps to create a Merge Request:
- Go to the User Story you want to work on.
- Click on the 'Create Merge Request' button.
- Keep the source branch and branch name as is.
- Adjust the title so it reflects the User Story title (Remove draft).
- Assign yourself to the Merge Request.
- Assign the milestone to the Sprint you are working on.
- Click on the 'Create Merge Request' button.
When you create this Merge Request you will get a Git branch created for you. In this branch you will work on the User Story and it's Tasks. When the User Story has the status 'Verify', the team will define who will review the work. Only one reviewer is allowed.
Everybody involved in the work and testing will keep the team posted in the activity log of the Merge Request.
