Scrum Boards

To get insights in the progress of your sprint, we are using a scrum board. In Gitlab this is called a 'Issue Board'. Each sprint has its own issue board.

Organization

You are going to organize your scrum board as follows:

  • Create a new issue board for the sprint, name it 'Sprint [number]'. Include the 'Open'-list, 'Closed'-list and set the scope to 'Milestones' > 'Sprint [number]'.
  • To this board you are going to add the following lists:
    • 'Status' > 'In progress'
    • 'Status' > 'Verify'
  • This makes the following lists:
    • Open
    • In progress
    • Verify
    • Closed

Scrum Board Sprint

Board usage

As a team you are going to use the scrum board to track the progress of your sprint. All of you are accountable for keeping the board up to date.

The working process is as follows:

  • The 'Open'-list contains all the User Stories of that sprint, in order of priority. There are no assignees yet, nobody is working on them. This is your Sprint Backlog.
  • When you start working on a User Story, you move it to the 'In progress'-list and assign yourself to it. A User Story can only be assigned to one person.
  • When you finished the User Story in your opinion, you move it to the 'Verify'-list. This is the place where one of your teammates will verify the User Story.
  • When the User Story is verified, you move it to the 'Closed'-list.

When you start working on a Task of a User Story, you assign yourself to the Task. A Task can only be assigned to one person.
